Nick Boles, MP for Grantham and Stamford, was chosen as his constituency’s Conservative Parliamentary Candidate through the primary system in 2007.
The MP won a public vote against three other candidates in an event at Meres Leisure Centre in Grantham and attended by residents from South Kesteven.
Now he is urging Louth and Horncastle residents to take part in the primary to choose a replacement for Sir Peter Tapsall as the Conservative candidate in next year’s General Election.
Nick said: “The Conservative Party is the only mainstream party to offer the use of primaries in selecting would-be MPs and it is great way to get the public involved in politics.
“It was seven years ago when I first selected but I still remember the added sense of achievement in being chosen as candidate by voters from Grantham and Stamford.
“I’d urge all those living in the Louth and Horncastle constituency to sign up and attend the primary in Spilsby on July 28”
The Louth and Horncastle primary will take place on Monday July 28 at Franklin Hall in Spilsby and will involve candidates undergoing an interview, then a Q&A session from the floor before a vote from the audience.
Anyone living in the Louth and Horncastle constituency can take part as long as they are on the electoral register and register with the local Conservative Party before the event.
There are three ways to register:
